Recently, I've noticed a rise in the number of contractor ads
pushing the concept "x trade will net an individual +$50K the first 5 years out of college over other 'desk job' careers" and others similar to that. Trade instruction at the huge local network of community colleges (CPCC) has grown swiftly. In areas like CLT metro where growth has been sustained for the past 35 years even through "the bad time", more of these jobs need filling, and fast. I work with people in the building industry and it's markedly noticeable that the typical employee.intern is far brighter, far more tech savvy (of course) and far more mature than the same people in the same jobs 40 years ago. If there's a trend to any of this it appears to be very positive, so the PR campaigns and ads must be working. [Post edited by PhotoHokieNC at 04/26/2017 08:44AM]
